TDC Doula Care Team
The Doula Cooperative offers THW Doulas in the Southern Oregon area an opportunity to be a TDC Associate on our Doula Care Team and receive the benefit package described below. If you are interested in becoming an Associate of The Doula Cooperative on our Doula Care Team, we ask that you sign a Associates Letter of Agreement which includes willingness to abide by these Standards of Professional Conduct and Code of Ethics. You will then be given access to the For TDC Associates pages to complete a service profile, fill in an availability calendar, and submit a photo and a short bio. Exclusive Referrals and Client Matching
Our Doula Services Coordinator receives many direct referrals from our website, clients, care providers and health care systems and can match potential clients exclusively to TDC Associate Doulas, especially with similar cultural backgrounds, spoken language, lived experiences, and specialized know-how. An availability calendar is maintained in order to connect clients with our doulas. Doulas on the care team will be able to coordinate with each other for back-up.
We ask Associates to offer a free get-acquainted interview. However, a potential client may notify us that they wish to interview another doula so that they can choose the doula that best fits their needs.
Website Listings and Service Promotion
TDC Associates receive a listing on the Find a Doula tab on the TDC website with a picture, bio, contact information, and a link to their individual businesses, where they may list ancillary services they offer as long as they are designated as “additional services.” TDC also maintains a social media presence and prints advertising materials. TDC hosts promotional events in the community to spread the word about doula care, fundraise, and give our doulas opportunities for community engagement.
Credentialing and Billing Services
TDC offers Associate Doulas discounted rates for credentialing, billing OHP and insurance companies for doula services, and administrative support.
Community of Practice Meetings
TDC provides monthly Community of Practice meetings for our Associates that offer mutual support, continuing education, networking, feedback, practice updates, and peer review. This promotes mental and physical well-being in a challenging field and facilitates a high level of professionalism that both clients and care providers respect. Once per quarter, the meetings will be open to all doulas in the community.
$120 per year, or $15 per meeting
Community Networking
The TDC Doula Services Coordinator serves as a liaison with the health care system and CCO leadership in which feedback on doula care in the community is given and received. Along with the Board of Directors, the Coordinator also garners financial support for TDC Programs. Associates may also represent themselves and TDC through presentations and community events.
TDC Associate Program Fees
Fees for our TDC Associate program are paid as a percentage of the reimbursement for birth care services that were referred to them specifically through TDC. These fees cover the cost of billing plus support expenses and staffing costs to administrate TDC programs.
10% of billed services for TDC Referrals, (5% of billed services if not referred by TDC)
Doula Practice Mentorship Program
New birth doulas often feel the need for support in starting their practice and benefit by an experienced mentor they can turn to. TDC offers a mentorship program whereby our TDC Doula Mentors, who are active and experienced birth doulas, provide one-on-one support. They address questions and concerns that arise about all aspects of doula practice, debrief birth and other experiences with clients or health care systems, and give emotional support, feedback and guidance on any doula practice issue.
Fees for the Mentorship program are paid as an additional 5% of reimbursed birth care for the first 10 births of a participant.
Continuing Education
TDC sponsors seminars and workshops that offer continuing education for birth and postpartum doulas, as well as allied health professionals in the community. Notifications and promotional efforts get the word out. They are also listed in our Event Calendar.
Continuing Education Discounts
TDC Associates receive discounts on Continuing Education offerings through The Doula Cooperative to stay up-to-date with the latest research, techniques, and best practices in birth work and meet requirements for recertification. (For THW Doulas, recertification requirements are 20 hours every 3 years).
